| About Us Position on Green Work Environment
Sustainability in the Workplace Nature Canada strives to maintain a workplace that is healthy, safe and sustainable. It is important to us that as we work to build a nature nation, our daily operations in the office environment leave as small a footprint on the natural environment as possible. We use furniture made from 100% recycled material and that is supported by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, a nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of green work spaces. More than 90% of our staff ride the bus or cycle to work. Our staff RRSP program allows staff to invest in environmentally sustainable funds. Using the standard established by the Greenguard Environmental Institute, nearly 75 per cent of staff work within 15 feet of natural light. Nature Canada’s human resource policies promote a healthy balance between work and home life. All employees have free access to an employee assistance program offering counseling, health advice, and other forms of support. Nature Canada procures products and services that have a reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose. When possible, Nature Canada uses green products that have some of the following characteristics:
