Our Strategic Plan

Towards a Nature Nation

Nature Canada launched its latest 3-year strategic plan in 2009 to bring greater focus to our conservation efforts and mobilize Canadians to conserve and celebrate our common heritage – nature.

“Let us help those around us to find joy in simple, natural things and, through understanding of Nature’s order and purpose, to cultivate reasonable, constructive attitudes.” A.R. Whittemore (1947), founder of Nature Canada.

Our vision: to establish Canada as a Nature Nation, where threatened species and ecosystems are protected, common species and ecosystems are conserved, ecological integrity is maintained, and people embrace a culture of conservation in their everyday lives.

We launched our plan from a platform of proven conservation success. Our success is based on an established network of partners and supporters, professional staff, and a set of guiding principles that sees each Canadian as an integral part of our natural heritage. And we want you to join us.
