Boreal Chorus Frog (Pseudacris maculata)

  • 1.9 to 3.7 cm
  • Only found north and west of Lake Superior in Ontario and near James Bay in Quebec
  • Call sounds like a finger running down the teeth of a comb
  • Call very similar to Western (Striped) Chorus Frog
  • Calling begins in early spring
  • Brown to green
  • Three dark, sometimes broken stripes down back
  • Breeds in temporary or permanent wetlands in open areas
