Pickerel Frog (Rana palustris)

Pickerel frog
  • 4.4 to 7.5 cm
  • Found in every eastern province except P.E.I. and Newfoundland
  • Call is a snore, faster and higher pitched than the Northern Leopard Frog
  • Calling begins in mid-spring
  • Brown with squarish spots
  • Lower belly yellow to orange
  • Breeds in open, temporary or permanent wetlands
