Hello Nature Canada,

We would be in such trouble were it not for bees! Here is a shot I took at The Brickworks in Toronto - a wonderful wild place in the heart of the city, filled with native plant species of many types, ponds with resident turtles and fish, and wonderful birds!

Lynn Pady
Toronto, ON

Thanks for sharing this beautiful photo with us, Lynn! It's like a ray of sunshine was captured and put into both the flower and the bee - we can't help but smile when we see it.

Bees are indeed important pollinators for our ecosystem; everything from fruits, vegetables and nuts to some crops for livestock feed depend on a visit from local bees. And let's not forget about honey!

Unfortunately, many species of bee are in decline, possibly due to biodiversity loss. That makes it more important than ever to have naturalized spaces with a wide variety of plants available for these hard-working insects.
