Hello Nature Canada,

This picture was taken in April of 2007 near Tofino, BC on the west coast of Vancouver Island at low tide in mid-afternoon. I never realized how many different colours of sea stars there were in Canadian waters.

Thanks for sharing this great photo with us, Deborah! The vivid colours of the sea stars certainly stand out in this cluster of marine life.

Canada's coasts are teeming with biodiversity, ranging from the sea stars, mussels and sea cucumbers seen here, to salmon, sea lions and killer whales. These fragile and beautiful ecosystems are at risk from industrial development activities.
