Birds Wanted: Enter a Rare Contest!

Help us collect photographs of the world’s 190 most endangered birds in one book, and enter to win prizes, including high-grade binoculars, a digital media player/recorder or a pocket weather station.

BirdLife International and MagDig Media Ltd have launched a worldwide photo competition to collect images for an upcoming book, The Rare Birds Yearbook, a directory of the planet’s rarest and most critically endangered birds.

First Prize

Submit your photo and you could win these Minox binoculars!

This annual publication will appear in October 2007 for the first time, in association with BirdLife International. Nature Canada is the Canadian co-partner (with Bird Studies Canada) of Birdlife International, a global alliance of conservation organizations that work together for the world’s birds and people. (Find out about our bird conservation work in Canada.)

£4.00 (app. $9CDN) of each sold book will be donated straight to conservation. Please visit www.rarebirdsyearbook.com for a list of the concerned species, the prizes, the rules, the jury members and more about the book.

Each yearbook will have a number of specially written feature articles on issues related to threatened birds such as migration, rare bird sites and taxonomy.

The directory section will also be updated each year with the latest information on the plight of the world’s most threatened species.

The competition runs until 15th July 2007.
